چکیده
Abstract Background Even though wetlands are essential in enhancing water quality and providing recreation entertainment opportunities urban areas, their values overlooked by the decision-makers. Underestimation of economic value wetland ecosystem services contributes to continuing deterioration inevitable loss. Investigating changes service (ESV) can provide crucial information for decision-making. This study, therefore, analyzes temporal spatial land-use/land-cover (LULC) change patterns over 35 years (1984–2019) intending evaluate its impact on Bahir Dar City, Ethiopia. Estimation analyses ESVs were conducted employing ArcGIS using LULC inputs year 1984, 1994, 2004, 2014, 2019 with corresponding global coefficients that developed earlier our own modified studied landscape. Results The results showed bodies city peripheries had decreased 75.71% (−1618 ha) within years, while built-up area increased 216.24% (+2599 ha). Cultivated land slightly from 1984 1994 then gradually declined since 1994. Changes resulted a decline total ESV. ESV USD 29.73 × 10 6 20.84 years. indicates loss nearly 8.9 2019. A sensitivity analysis suggested robustness estimation study area. All individual experienced negative change. However, greater reduction was observed such as regulation, waste treatment, habitats maintaining biodiversity. expansion City major factor contributed provided wetlands. Conclusions resulting has implication local climate, management, livelihoods poor community. Thus, interventions should be made restoration sustainable management peri-urban areas City.

Land-Use Change Modelling in the Upper Blue Nile Basin
Land-use and land-cover changes are driving unprecedented changes in ecosystems and environmental processes at different scales. This study was aimed at identifying the potential land-use drivers in the Jedeb catchment of the Abbay basin by combining statistical analysis, field investigation and remote sensing. To do so, a land-use change model was calibrated and evaluated using the SITE (SImul...
متن کاملImpact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature
The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...

The impacts of land utilization change on the ecosystem service values in Daqing during 1995 to 2015 were analyzed based on unit area ecosystem service value of Chinese territorial ecosystem from Mr. Xie Gaodi and ecosystem service value calculation formula from Costanza. Results showed that the ecosystem service value of Daqing decreased from US $4343.1559m in 1995 to US $3824.327m in 2015, wi...
متن کاملUrban Land-Cover Change and Its Impact on the Ecosystem Carbon Storage in a Dryland City
Lack of research into the complexity in urban land conversion, and paucity of observational data of soil organic carbon (SOC) beneath impervious surface area (ISA) limit our understanding of the urbanization effects on carbon (C) pools in dryland cities. Employing Landsat TM images acquired in 1990 and 2010, a hybrid classification method consisting of Linear Spectral Mixture Analysis and decis...
